Be Your Authentic Self
What does that mean?
Aren’t we ourselves every day?
Being your authentic self means being who you are-not what everyone around you expects you to be.
Look, we normally don’t let other people tell us what to do.
Why should we let others tell us who we are going to be?
That is why we are called human beings. Not human doings.
All successful people have had someone around them tell them they couldn’t do it.
The only difference between those who are successful and those who are not is that they did not listen to what went on around them.
They listened to themselves and what they wanted to do.
They ignored the voices of those around them who could not see what they could.
They kept the vision they had for themselves in front of them. And because they could see it, they could do it.
This is not something that happens overnight. It takes a while to figure it out.
This is also not something you can do once and not do again. It is a continuous process to be yourself. It is not for the lazy, the weak, or the fainthearted.
But when you can do it, it’s more than worth it.
When you try to fit in with what others are doing, you are limited to their vision.
When you are not afraid to be yourself, your only limit is YOU.
Then, the world becomes your playground.

Hi Carol,
Very informative article, but I seem to remember that our parents, our religious beliefs and the laws of society play a critical role in shaping who we think we are and eventually become.
Most of us have been taught Dependence we actually live and die Depending.. Are all these people being themselves? I sincerely doubt. Maybe because of different personalities we attempt to do things differently but at the end of the day it is the same thing.
In my humble opinion being our authentic selves is an entirely different matter. Because of what we have been programmed to believe, that inward journey becomes long and winding, very few find their way.
Best Regards,
C.Rouse.

You are absolutely right, Courtney.
What we are presently is shaped by our environment, which is why it is so difficult for people to become who they want to be.
People have lost the ability to change their circumstances because they are concentrating so much on fitting in. What they don’t realize is that the only way they can truly grow is by getting bigger than their surroundings. That can be a pretty scary thing, and again, it is why few people can actually do it.
The great thing about it is that, our brains are made so wonderfully that we can change what goes on around us, simply by changing the way we see it.
Relatively simple concept, but difficult to act out.
Those that do are the ones that achieve true success.
Thank you for responding!
