Are You a Feather Or A Rock?

Joe Schroeder asked this question on a private Million Mind March call last night.

So I contemplated the question for a while.

A feather is blown about by the wind, it is the victim of its surroundings, and it has no control over what it does.

When we give up, isn’t that what we become?

Are we the type of person who allows our environment to shape us, or do we shape our environment?

We are living creatures-we have an advantage over inanimate objects. We are even over the animals.

Even an animal can change its surroundings, but it doesn’t know why. It’s called instinct.

We are the only creatures on earth that have the ability to consciously change the situation we are in.

So why do we settle? Why don’t we change more often?

Because it’s easier to be a feather than a rock.

It doesn’t take any effort at all to let things control you.

Why do you think there are so many get-rich-quick and diet-without-exercising commercials?

However, it takes strength to not allow your surroundings to control you.

It takes almost superhuman strength to change our surroundings.

The rock remains where it is…and things grow around it, and shape themselves to it.

When the rock is moved, it makes an imprint on wherever it lands, even if only for a moment.

If you show you are not going anywhere, your environment will do the same.

The next time you wonder if it’s worth it, ask yourself that question.

Are you a feather…or a rock?

The only person that can answer that…is YOU.
